From Advocacy to Action

My name is Gabriel Morningstar, and I’m running for Rancho Cordova City Council District 2 because our communities like Cordova Highlands, Cordova Court (and neighbors) and Mobile Country Club, deserve an advocate who understands the daily struggle.

Housing Affordability
Through my work with the Community Land Trust, I’ve fought to keep roofs over heads.

Community Leadership
Serving on the boards of local nonprofits and political organizations, I’ve learned how to navigate the system to get results for the people.

Food Access
Organizing and advocating to ensure our neighbors don’t go hungry.
Despite these efforts, the rent is still too high and the “insider” status quo remains. I am running to demand a seat at the table for our neighborhoods, ensuring we receive our fair share of reinvestment.

Lived Experience. Real Solutions.
Rancho Cordova is one of the most diverse and vibrant cities in the Sacramento region, but for too long, our leadership has been out of touch with the daily struggles of its residents.
I’m not a career politician or a “good-old-boy” insider. I am someone who has overcome deep poverty, physical disability, and homelessness. These weren’t just obstacles; they were my greatest teachers. They imbued me with a passion to ensure no other Cordovan has to face those struggles alone.
I know what it’s like to choose between paying the electricity bill and buying a carton of eggs. That is why I’m running.
My Vision for Rancho Cordova

Reinvesting in People
Directing fiscal revenue back into our communities to enrich lives and lower costs.

Tackling the Housing Crisis
Moving beyond talk to implement real affordability measures.

Transparency over Influence
Prioritizing the best interests of residents, not special interests or insiders.
Lived Experience, Not Just Politics
Putting aside political platitudes and moving beyond empty promises, in exchange for real-world experience. Let’s ensure our city government prioritizes our community’s housing, affordability and security.
“Our Diversity is Our Strength”
As a person of mixed-race heritage and the child of a Cubano immigrant, I understand the grit and resilience it takes to make the American Dream a reality. Rancho Cordova is a beautiful tapestry of cultures, and it deserves a leader who reflects that diversity and understands the unique needs of every community.
